for his innovative approach to fitness, John is a leader in the field of exercise and
wellness. After receiving both football and academic scholarships to Boston College,
John exploded onto the fitness scene. John has taken two of the top fitness programs
in the country - The Mount Auburn Club in Watertown, MA, and The Sports Club/LA in West
Los Angeles, CA - to record heights. He also created, taught and promoted the BMW
Ultimate Performance Workout for Equinox Fitness Clubs.

Rich Jacobs, Trainer - #12

Rich was born in a northern suburb of Chicago. His passion for strength and conditioning began in high school while playing volleyball for his team as the setter.
Rich started his career by obtaining a degree in exercise physiology and psychology at Ball State University. Upon graduating, he had the opportunity to spend three years training athletes in a private facility. His education continued by obtaining certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). While in the Chicago area, he had the opportunity to coach high school volleyball and become part of the Northwestern University Strength Staff.
Rich was later hired to a full-time position at Michigan State University as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. While coaching at State, he also obtained his Masters in Kinesiology, and became certified by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa). Rich worked with teams such as volleyball, softball, baseball, soccer, field hockey, wrestling, and gymnastics.
Whether it is the average person or an elite athlete, Rich believes that everyone can be trained to accomplish his or her personal goals. Working with Rich is an experience and an opportunity for you to see what you are capable of achieving. His training philosophy: high effort, high intensity, strong commitment!

Kourtney Kaas, Yoga Instructor
Experience: 10 years
Kourtney Kaas brings 10 years of yoga practice, 20 years of dance and movement theatre, Alexander Technique and Reiki training to her teaching. These skills combined with a passion for yoga and her joyful freedom of movement meet in a practice that allows students to tap into strength, flexibility and physical alignment in a playful way and encourages exploration of breath, relaxation and meditation. Kourtney strongly believes that a consistent yoga practice will, in time, influence every aspect of one’s life – uniting body, mind and spirit. Kourtney currently teaches at ACTIVE FITNESS and YogaHop in Santa Monica as well as teaching privately and in corporate settings. Originally from Minnesota, she holds a BFA in Theatre and Dance from the University of Minnesota and an MFA in Acting from UCLA.

S’Kati Katz, Boxing Coach - #34

S’Kati is a native Texan and her passion for fitness started when she was a little girl with the influence of her father. Always being active and healthy is how he lived and she wanted to be just like him. She played high school basketball and volleyball. She joined a local gym, loved it and that’s when she decided to attend UTSA and obtain her Exercise Science degree.
S’Kati attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Kinesiology in 2003. Not only did she graduate with honors in 3 years, she put herself through college by personal training.
She started boxing as a hobby, a way to get away from reality and release stress. She fell in love with the sport because of the intense, competitive training. After 6 weeks of training, S’Kati had her professional boxing debut in February 2007 winning by a TKO in the 3rd Round. After her 2nd pro fight, she knew a World Champion Title was in her future.
On October 31, 2007 she moved to Santa Monica, CA. S’Kati loves working with people and wants to help others that are passionate about working out and changing their lives for the better. Boxing changed S’Kati’s life for the better and imagine what it can do for you…
